exploring the horizons of contemporary culture from the realm of the fabulous inland empire
Small Wonder is a private organization for literature and the arts with non-profit sponsorship through Community Partners. Founded in 2005, Small Wonder encourages innovative projects that support the development of culture and creativity in Southern California with a specific focus on the Inland Empire.

Small Wonder is open to proposals from creative practitioners in all areas of cultural production. We currently do some of the following and are always interested in trying new and different projects based upon the interests of the people working with our organization.

Our keywords are collaboration, experimentation, and rigor.

• Salons: hosted at our studios in Riverside, these include but are not limited to exhibitions, readings, performances, and discussion groups.

• Multipoint US: a self-managed artists working group considering contemporary concerns in visual, performing, and literary arts in a rigorous, experimental way.

• Art and Writing Workshops: low cost, geared for all levels of expertise, focusing on painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, journal-as-lit, experimental fiction/poetry, essay development, critique

• Small Wonder Press: an online magazine "[com]motion," issued every 6 months.

• Residencies: Small Wonder will offer limited residencies to international and national artists who have a collaborative element as an integral part of their practice.

We are a project of Community Partners.

The Small Wonder Foundation seeks to support cultural development in the city of Riverside and the Inland Empire of Southern California by providing a quality venue for fine art and literary experimentation, collaboration, and exchange. our chief goal is to promote the expansion of contemporary directions in culture.

We host salons, provide art and writing workshops, prestent readings and performances, and are constantly seeking opportunities for collaboration that will expand possibilities.

We are uniquely positioned in Riverside, California, newly coined "the city of arts and culture." Located a mere 35 miles from downtown Los Angeles, this beautiful, historic city is home to a phenomenal arts and literary movement including some of our partners and friends:
