exploring the horizons of contemporary culture from the realm of the fabulous inland empire

Louise is a famous warrior. That's why those yoga postures feel so natural to her. Proud warrior, warrior II, warrior-sage. They are difficult poses requiring conentration and balance or so the yoga teacher says but Louise thinks perhaps she should stand like this more often, even outside of yoga class.

Small Wonder Mission Statement

The Small Wonder Foundation is a non-profit organization that seeks to expand the limits of contemporary cultural practice by examining artistic, social, legal, and personal boundaries on the creative practice. We are committed to the notion that creativity and cooperation can change lives and therefore strive to reach a wide community of people who want to understand and nurture a creative vision.

We bring together people from all industries, cultures, and demographics, combining a vast scope of opinions in order to challenge “givens” about culture and society. Our goal is to test the limits and establish new standards for contemporary creative practice that reflect the changing and challenging nature of the human experience.

We offer regional, national, and international residencies and a range of creative, experimental workshops in various artistic fields. We host a self-managed, collaborative working group that is open to creative thinkers from theologians to architects, urban planners to poets, sculptors to community organizers, to present an opportunity for intense exploration of creative limits where the needs of the individual practitioner and the goals of the group are balanced.

We are open to people of all ages and background who are willing to try something new and offer themselves to the imaginative process. Our projects are cooperative in nature and driven by the desire to test ourselves rather than to respond to market-driven dictates. Our projects adapt themselves to the possibilities presented by the creative people with whom we work, always striving to better understand ourselves through imaginative exploration.
