Low Cost Art and Writing Workshops with an Experimental Approach

Writing:

Journal Writing: Weekly exercises help develop memoir style and using the journal as a literary device. Weekly reading and discussion of selected texts from Chris Kraus, Louise Erdrich, Samuel Pepys, and others. 4 weeks.

Shorts: includes creative non-fiction, short fiction, memoir, and other prose. Weekly reading and discussion of selected texts from interesting contemporary writers.

Experimental: anything goes for the fearless.

Visual Art :

Drawing: Develop a personal connection to drawing and expand your understanding of art. One plein aire session; two figure sessions. This workshop will encourage you to take risks and push the limits of your work. We will spend some time in critique and discussion about student projects and the work of established artists. 3 weeks.

Painting: Painting workshops focus on developing style and interaction with materials. This is a workshop for all levels of experience as the instruction is individualized. 4 weeks.

Printmaking: Printmaking workshops include woodcut printing techniques. We are currently in the process of buying a press. When that is in place we will work with a wider range of printmaking techniques. 4 weeks.

Sculpture: Three week session using hand building techniques to explore various ideas in art. Might include mask-making, figurative sculpture, abstract techniques. 4 weeks.

Please note, the student is responsible for most materials. All sessions are 2 hours each. Limited studio time is provided after the session.
